Meeting Notes
April 14, 2008 (7:00pm)

 

 

Welcome/ Opening Prayer

   
             The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pmSign-in roster is attachment A; 10 members were present.

For confidentiality purposes, the PMCS PTO will not post sign-in rosters on the website.  A copy of the sign-in roster will be kept in the PTO Secretary Continuity Book.

              The meeting began with an opening prayer.

 

Meeting Minutes/ Approval
   
         Copies of the March 10, 2008 meeting minutes were passed around and reviewed.
         
          Tom Kurata moved that we accept the March 10, 2008 minutes.  Ellen Haskins seconded the motion.  All were in favor, none opposed.  (Meeting Minutes are posted on the PTO website.  Hard copy will be kept in PTO Secretary Continuity Book.)     

 

Treasury Report

    1. Profit and Loss Statement

 

Jeanne Cichon, PTO Treasurer, reviewed the current budget documentation.  (See Attachment B.) 

  1. The Book Fair total changed a little.

 

  1.  The Lenten Soup changed its total which is now down to $571.00. This total changed because receipts have been turned in.

 

    1. Funding Requests:
  1.  Shannon Boyd is asking for another $250.00 increase in her money that PTO gives each year. This would increase from $500.00 to $750.00.

Ellen Haskins asked if Shannon was getting a budget through the school?  Shannon said, “Yes” but that it was not enough. (See Attachment C.)
                 
                 Tom Kurata moved that we approve the increase to        Shannon Boyd’s PTO budget from $500.00 to $750.00.  Amy Keller seconded the motion. All were in favor, none opposed. The total approved is $750.00.

  1.  Shannon Boyd is asking for $75.00 more for the yearbooks. (See Attachment D.)

 

 Tom Kurata moved that we approve the $75.00. Nichole Munoz seconded.  All were in favor, none opposed. The total approved was $75.00.

  1.  Larry Dorsey-Spitz is asking PTO to help out with a LIVE ANIMAL show for the children.  This show would be held on Friday 18, 2008.  The total cost of the show would be $225.00.  Larry is asking the PTO to pay for half of this total.  PTO’s half would be $113.00.

 

                   Donna Tamas moved that we approve the $113.00.  Ellen Haskins seconded the motion.  All were in favor. None opposed.  The total approved is $113.00.

  1. Larry Dorsey-Spitz is asking PTO to purchase pens with the schools info on each one. (Name, address, phone number, and website.) 1,000 pens @ $ .35 each. 

 

Tom Kurata moved that we approve the pens.  Ellen Haskins seconded the motion. All were in favor. None opposed.  The total approved would be $350.00 for 1000 pens.

  1. Shannon Boyd is asking for $29.36 for the art show.

 

Tom Kurata moved that we approved the $29.36.  Amy Keller seconded the motion. All were in favor. None opposed.

  1.  Larry Dorsey-Spitz is asking for computers for Pre -school, Kindergarten, and the front office.  Candy’s computer needs a bigger screen. Debbie is using Candy’s old computer.  Joan would like us to get Dells. They would have 3yr. Maintenance on site.

 

Tom Kurata moved that we approve the computers.  Shannon Boyd seconded the motion. All were in favor. None opposed. The total cost approved is $5,100.00.

  1. Larry Dorsey-Spitz is asking PTO to purchase 3 NOW ENROLLING banner for the Pre-School.  The cost would be $175.00 for one big one and $156.00 for 2 smaller ones.

 

Ellen Haskins moved that we approve the banners.  Amy Keller seconded the motion.  All approved.  None opposed. The total cost that was approved was $500.00.

  1. Cameron Hickert is requesting $250.00 for paint and brushes. Cameron will be painting lines on the school play ground for Basketball, four-square, and hopscotch.  Cameron is doing this for his Eagle Scout Project.  He will be in charge of this. It will be done over the summer.  The church has approved this and Principal Dorsey-Spitz is in full support of this project.  It was brought up that Tony Ellis might be able to help with the paint. (See attachment E.)

 

            Nichole Munoz moved that we approve the $250.00 for    paint and brushes.  Amy Keller, Ellen Haskins, and Gail Hickert   seconded the motion.  All were in favor.  None opposed.  The   total approved was $250.00.

  1. Larry Dorsey-Spitz is asking PTO to purchase Social Studies books for grades 4-6th.  The current textbooks do not meet accreditation and are outdated. The cost for purchasing these books would be $8,700.00.

 

This was left open for further discussion.

  1. Larry Dorsey-Spitz also stated that Terri Grey is in need of a computer as well.  This too was left open for further discussion.

 

    1. Old Funding Request:

 

  1. Sarah talked about the new sports jerseys.  Tom Kurata made a comment that some of them were too big.  Sarah let him know that they were going to be sent back.

 

New Business:

    1. Budget and next year events/ dates

 

  1. Sara went over the next year’s budget and dates. (See attachment F.)
